Expert’s tips to Crack GATE 2018
Expert’s tips to Crack GATE 2018
  • Strike a balance between Accuracy & Speed – 65 questions to be attempted in 3 hours or 180 minutes calls for a judicious selection of questions to be attempted.
  • GATE Paper, being a mix of multiple choice(MCQs) and numerical answer type questions, carries steep NEGATIVE marking(only for MCQs) – as much as 33%. Hence, try to minimize wrong attempts.
  • Practice previous years’ question papers and analyze the topics in which you are losing marks. Concentrate more on those topics to start getting positive score in such topics.
  • Always try to solve the papers in given time to get a clear idea about how many questions you are able to solve within the prescribed time limits.
  • Pay equal attention to both theory and numerical problems.
  • Try to prioritise the list of topics with higher weightage in GATE. Strengthen your concepts & problem solving skills in such topics.
  • Group study is an effective way to brush up your knowledge about technical topics. This process can lead you in learning new techniques and procedures to understand the topic better.
Short Cut Techniques:

Try to adopt short cut techniques to save the time since traditional methods to solve numerical problems may take longer time.

Do not make wild guesses as there is steep negative marking associated with the questions.

Self Made Summary Notes:

Try to prepare your own notes after studying a topic. Initially it may appear to be time consuming but it will be useful in revising the topics at final stage. Prepare the list of important definitions, equations, derivations, theorems, laws in every subject.
